Supersilent, Suanna & The Magical Orchestra (NOTCH 07) - 05/10/2007

第二晚的演出轉到星海音樂廳再進行，也是三晚音樂會中，唯一需要購票的。星海音樂廳是廣州最著名的演出場地之一，當晚的入座率接近八成，令筆者有點意外，因該晚演出的樂隊Susanna & The Magical Orchestra、Supersilent、The Skull Defekts，嚴格來說，跟主流拉不上關係(當然，主流非主流現今的界線也相當值得研討)。內地觀眾對音樂的包容性，亦是筆者本次廣州之行的一大發現。上述三組演出單位中，最平易近人(easy-listening)的必然是Susanna & The Magical Orchestra。

女主音Susanna的這支神奇交響樂團，其實只是挪威年青鋼琴手Morten Qvenild 的化身。Susanna 清澈、優雅的嗓音，在Morten Qvenild 低調的伴奏下，用近乎清唱的方式讓人為之醉倒。Susanna & The Magical Orchestra 共發行過兩張專輯，當晚的演出以去年發行的Melody Mountain的曲目為主，Melody Mountain是一張翻唱專輯，將AC/DC、Joy Division、Depeche Mode及Leonard Cohen等的歌曲，透過樂隊純淨、通透、略帶哀傷氣氛作重新演繹。

雖說我們都期望樂手在現場演出時，能帶來唱片沒有的驚喜，不過Susanna當晚像專輯錄音般零瑕疵表現，歌聲遊走於不同聲度，收放自如的演繹，像是一首首聖詩那樣純潔美麗。鋼琴手Morten Qvenild是爵士三重奏樂團In The Country的領軍人物，是筆者相當欣賞的鋼琴手，當晚Morten一人負責電腦、電子琴、鋼琴，但他卻表現得從容不迫，雙手輕巧的分別遊走電子琴和鋼琴，在某些歌曲中他即席彈起短短的獨奏，有時候，你會不禁驚嘆這位年僅三十一歲的鋼琴手，是何等才華洋溢。

本屈北歐中國音樂節的演出陣容，被眾多獨立樂迷形容為「夢幻」的最大原因，該是邀請到奧斯陸音樂廠牌Rune Grammofon的頭號樂隊 – Supersilent。Supersilent的四位樂手在北歐音樂圈中，皆是享負盛名的人物。由擅長聲音藝術、電子聲效的Helge Sten、電子鍵琴手Stale Storlokken、鼓手Jarle Vespestad和小號手Arve Henriksen 組成的Supersilent，是一支難以分類的組合，所指的不論是組合形式，或音樂本身。如果，要為他們的音樂歸類，只會顯示出音樂名詞的不切實際，一支融合環境音樂(Ambient)、爵士、前衛聲響、後搖滾的樂隊，難以讓人用三言兩語來描述其音樂特性，美國音樂網站Pitchfork 甚至開玩笑的以”Avant-everything collective”來形容他們。Supersilent 之所以受人推崇，正在於音樂的廣闊性，這晚的演出，他們讓觀眾思考著音樂最根本的特性 – 聲音的融合。

像Supersilent 的即興樂隊，現場演出時大多需要一段熱身時間，事前不禁擔心四十五分鐘的演出時間，不足以讓樂隊發揮得淋漓盡致。然而當晚各成員，很快進入狀況。

當晚Supersilent 的即興風格，像新專輯”8”多於現場DVD”7”。緩慢的電子琴塑造出基層的環境聲效，其他成員則以極微、低緩的方式在上面加入各種元素，音樂以最低限的形態推進。Supersilent揉合了爵士的即興方式，小號手與鍵盤手的不時以對答、呼應的演奏方式，回應對方的旋律。而Helge Sten除透過電腦作現場數位混音，也以類比(analogue)的方式即場演奏各種聲效，讓Supersilent的音樂交錯於原音樂器及數位音效。

而這種交錯或柔或剛; 充滿詩意、延伸性的小號與電琴在同一音質上，相互融合; 刺耳、尖高音的鼓點，在把低限緩慢、充滿Ambient 氣息的音樂有條不序的切斷。這種時而矛盾/融合的音樂，讓人走進一個接近瘋狂/混亂，但不致於失控的思想境界。

Supersilent 的複雜音樂架構，團員在即興演奏時的專注，絕對讓人嘖嘖稱奇。在最後一首歌曲時，Helge Sten利用結他製造出連綿不斷的噪音，琴音與鼓點慢慢的迎面推進，整個星海音樂廳都被音樂/噪音包圍，最後Arve Henriksen充滿穿透力的小號，我閉上眼睛，立刻浮現出一幕幕音樂帶來的境像; 音樂不像電影、文字，某程度上限制了我們的思想，它的想像空間沒有邊際，無窮延伸，正如Supersilent的音樂特色。

當我走出會場時，腦海裡盡是那種難以言喻的震撼感。

P.S 也順便的說說The Skull Defekts 的演出，簡短一點來說，「瑞典的The Rapture」應該是適合的形容詞，很有DFA 味道的一組樂隊。最後一首歌，三套鼓一起爆發時，全場都十分「嗨」，很爽。但是跟當晚氣氛有點格格不入。
