在新一年聽到這張專輯，像是一種啟示。
新一年，對我來說，總是來得比較慢。新一年的頭幾天，嘴邊話題總是08年的東西，就像Arve Henriksen 的這張ECM 專輯。
從開始接觸Arve Henriksen 在挪威前衛/實驗廠牌 Rune Grammofon 的發行時，看著他不斷參與其他北歐樂手的ECM 專輯，就一直期待 Arve Henriksen 什麼時候會出他的第一張 ECM 作品，總是認為，ECM 這個廠牌能夠將樂手們最深層的一些想法、思緒、音樂的靈性，誘發出來。就像Arve Henriksen 的這張Cartography。
在上一張以故鄉為名的專輯Strjon，Arve Henriksen 透過充滿其個人簽名式的小號樂音，作出對故鄉、自身成長、音樂風格的一趟回歸探索，可以將Strjon 視為一次總結，因為Cartography 顯示出的是，一次新的出發。
Cartography 裡那種Ambient 式的表現手法，呈現出來的，更多是一種 Soundscape (聲音風景)，描寫著一幅宏大的音樂地圖。Arve Henriksen 依舊在寂靜之間探索著，但這一次，這探索顯得更深邃。像專輯一曲”Loved One”，裡面包含著太多的感情，就像一部完整的電影，已經包含在內裡，那些細微的田野錄音、琴音、緩緩響起的環境聲效、小號，好像都在訴說著一些故事，冷冽、荒涼的。
David Sylvian 在專輯裡獻聲的兩首詩歌，固然美麗，像回應著Arve Henriksen 的小號，你怎麼知道 Arve Henriksen 小號裡吹的，又不是一首首美麗的詩歌? Arve Henriksen 那無限延伸似的音樂，如專輯最後的那首”Sorrow And Its Opposite”，每回都讓人感到一種洗滌心靈的感覺。

這張Cartigraphy 在08年11月已發行，但卻在新一年才後知後覺。似乎也提醒著，應該好好地調整一下自己，尋找一種新的生活節奏，自己的，和別人的。07年Supersilent 演出依然是我看過最精彩的表演，08年的這張Cartography，再一次提醒音樂對我們的重要。Arve Henriksen，當代最偉大的小號手。
